You do not need a clever opening line. A simple hello and a question that is easy to answer give the other person something to work with.
Start small
Try “What have you been listening to lately?” or “What is something good that happened this week?” Avoid opening with demands for a name, location or social-media account.
If you share an interest, use it: “What do you like about photography?” is easier to answer than a very broad “Tell me about yourself.” You can edit your interests in Whodis before or during a chat.
Follow the answer
Ask a follow-up about something the other person chose to mention. Share a little of your own experience too, so the conversation does not feel like an interview. Give them time to type or respond.
Let a conversation end
Not every match will click. You can say “Thanks for the chat” and leave. You do not owe anyone contact details, another call or an explanation. If a conversation becomes uncomfortable, use Stop; use Report for rule-breaking behaviour.
Keep private details private
Do not share passwords, financial information or identifying details about yourself or other people. Video can reveal your surroundings, so check the background before starting. Read the safety guide for more.
Whodis is for adults 18+. Choose text or video, then press Start when you are ready.
