A phone adds practical questions to random chat: can you reach Stop with one hand, does the keyboard cover your message field, and what happens when you switch apps?
Start with permissions
Use a current browser and check the camera and microphone permissions for the site. A link opened inside a social app may behave differently from a regular browser tab. Whodis runs in the browser and does not require installing an app.
Check the small-screen controls
Before matching, find Next, Stop and Report. Open and close the settings so you know how to get back to the call. Check that you can type with the keyboard open and read messages without losing the conversation controls.
Expect interruptions when leaving the app
Locking the phone, changing networks or switching apps can interrupt camera access and disconnect a call. Use Stop if you intend to leave. If a call fails, see camera and connection help.
Safety is not an app-store badge
Installation method alone does not establish that a service is safe. Read its age rules, privacy policy and reporting process. Whodis is for adults 18+ and allows authorised staff to inspect sessions; it cannot guarantee another participant’s conduct.
Try guest text chat if you do not want to use your camera. See our safety guide before a video conversation.
